    The United States Department of Agriculture considered the costs of various foodborne pathogens on the U.S. economy each year.??Salmonella?is the clear leader amongst foodborne pathogens, costing the U.S. economy a whopping $3.7 billion a year. These costs arise from medical expenses, time lost from jobs, and even death.



    According to the CDC, 10 of the 13 foodborne illness outbreaks in 2018 have been associated with Salmonella.
